Mimesis: UCF undergraduate art showcase of fall 2022

My large-scale paintings depict conceptual derelict environments to convey salvation and damnation. I paint imagined spaces based on photo references from music videos, films, video games, and religious imagery to visualize uncertainty and grief. My visual narratives imply trials and tribulations of an expedition to an uncertain destination.

I use the color black to symbolize grief and uncertainty and red to symbolize passion and rage. By using these colors, I acknowledge we experience these emotions together and they determine our decisions and outcomes. I combine dread with doubt to express my perspective of life and hope viewers will reflect on their own passion and pain.
